While sitting under a fig tree, Nathanael was meditating on angels ascending and descending. He was about to discover that the heavenly stairway points to a Person. Upon meeting Jesus, he was amazed to find the Messiah from Nazareth—and quickly realized that the only way up is through the One who first came down.
